4th Annual Orphan Run... A Reason to Ride
October 26, 2008
|
Orphan Run 2008 was a tremendous success as more than 150 motorcycle enthusiasts from throughout Hampton Roads and Richmond rode to change the lives of children they may never meet.
"The weather on Sunday was perfect" said Event Host Steve Ward. “It was a great ride from start to finish.” The event staged from three locations and ended in Williamsburg at Ward’s home, Colonial Hills Estate.
Not only did bikers enjoy a beautiful fall ride through Virginia’s countryside, but they also enjoyed great barbeque, live music, and amazing prizes. The trophies for the bike show were a huge hit as was this year’s band, Part-Time Saints from Virginia Beach.
Orphan Helpers would like to extend a special thank you to Old Point Bank for sponsoring this year's event. Thanks also to the Hampton Roads businesses who donated the hundreds of auction items, prizes, and gift certificates. Our appreciation and thanks goes to Bayside Harley-Davidson, Hampton Roads Harley-Davidson and Richmond Harley-Davidson for allowing us to stage the ride from their dealerships. A big thank you to Harrell Cook for donating all of the food and to Heather Drewery of York Awards for the trophies and plaques for this year’s bike show.
To all of our sponsors, participants, and volunteers: we could not have done this without you—your generosity made this event possible!
