A LETTER FROM OUR
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Right now, more than 1,600 boys and girls are locked up behind bars and barbed wire in Honduras and El Salvador. Nearly all suffer from extreme poverty, broken families, abandonment, violence or abuse. These youth say they have one desire – for an adult finally to believe in them and help them find God’s plan and purpose for their life.

Here at Orphan Helpers, our goal is to make sure abandoned children and incarcerated youth have someone to mentor and guide them. We want to teach them the skills they’ll need to succeed.

Inside the government-run centers, our Success Academies provide instruction on life skills, leadership, and spiritual growth. Today, nearly 25% of the youth in the centers are involved in Success Academies.

Once they’re released from the centers, our Success Coaches provide guidance and assistance to the youth during the critical transition back to society. The Success Coaches identify opportunities in the community and assist youth in accessing resources, such as continuing education, job opportunities, churches, transitional homes, and other services.

This work is made possible by kind donors who give generously, teachers who serve sacrificially, and the Lord who blesses abundantly. Your generosity is crucial. It will provide youth with life skills training, counseling services, Bible studies, and vocational education to help them achieve success.

Please help us equip them, give them a new vision for their future, and impact their life story while we still have the opportunity to reach them!

Sincerely,

Greg Harris

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

HONDURAS

SUPREME COURT REPORT

“It will be required that minors receive some form of education, whether formal or informal. Orphan Helpers is declared a subject matter expert in the fields of reinsertion and rehabilitation, both educational and spiritual, and can stay in the juvenile detention centers as they deem convenient, regardless of the administration that is ruling the center.”

MITZIE,

SUCCESS ACADEMY GRADUATE

“I’m confident I’m going to achieve my dreams, even though there are still financial obstacles for me. Fortunately, Orphan Helpers has given me an opportunity to start earning money by starting a beauty salon. This has me very hopeful. Through this work and experience, better things will come.”

SOLEDAD,

EL SALVADOR DIRECTOR

“A great amazement to me this year has been the reaction from the government officials who run the centers. They are so thankful for this work. They see a change of attitude, behavior, and discipline among the Success Academy students who are now an example within the centers. The directors of the centers are ready for new Academy classes to begin.”
