New Country Director Leads Expansion

We’re excited to welcome Juan Colmenares to the Orphan Helpers team as Country Director for Guatemala where he will lead our expansion there.

“Juan is an outstanding addition to the Orphan Helpers leadership team,” Executive Director Greg Harris said. “His background in international project management, church partnerships, countrywide operations, and youth ministry will allow us to begin work in Guatemala on a firm foundation.”

Juan brings extensive experience in faith-based international organizations, including International Justice Mission (IJM), Compassion International, and Healing Waters International. The hiring of Juan puts Orphan Helpers in a great position to expand from Honduras and El Salvador into Guatemala to serve at-risk youth across the Northern Triangle.

"Knowing what Orphan Helpers is doing with many young people in El Salvador and Honduras, fills my heart with hope to think what God will do in Guatemala. Youth across my country, especially those in conflict with the law, are seeking opportunities such as this to succeed in life,” Juan said “I’m excited and honored to be part of this ministry."

Juan has worked in the international nonprofit community for the past 16 years. Prior to joining Orphan Helpers, Juan served as Director of Church Mobilization at IJM, supporting the fight against child sexual abuse. He worked with Healing Waters International where he carried out community projects with a variety of churches. He also worked with Compassion International. In addition, Juan worked 13 years at the Church Centro Biblico El Camino where he served in various ministries, including youth ministry.

Juan graduated with a degree from Central American Theological Seminary in Guatemala.

Welcome to the Orphan Helpers team, Juan!
