Graduation Seems “So Surreal” for Two Girls in Honduras

Updated: Sep 13, 2018

Today we have two more great reasons for celebration by everyone who’s a part of Orphan Helpers—supporters, ministry partners, board members, teachers, and staff.

Two young ladies we’ve had the privilege to love and guide over the past ten years have achieved a milestone. Dilcia and Maribel graduated high school!

Dilcia was abandoned by her mother at birth. She was placed in a Honduran government orphanage.

Maribel also was abandoned by her biological parents in Honduras. She was physically and emotionally abused by her adoptive mother. Social workers finally intervened and placed her in a government-run orphanage.

Orphan Helpers worked with the girls and mentored them, taking them from the orphanages and placing them in a small group home setting. Through your support, the girls were able to attend the Tree of Life residential high school (www.tolm.org) where they just graduated!

“I am so thankful to the Good Lord, as well as Orphan Helpers, for unconditional love,” Maribel says. “Because of this support, I have realized a great dream of finishing high school, which still seems so surreal. This last year was of great trial, but I could see the hand of God guiding me. Thanks to God, to Orphan Helpers, and to Tree of Life Institute for supporting me, for accepting me, and above all, for believing in me!”

We continue to work with the girls as they transition to the next phase of life. If you would like to sponsor Dilcia or Maribel so they can receive more education and job training, contact us at iwannaknow@orphanhelpers.org.

And graduating high school!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)
