Raquel grew up without a family to care for her. She never experienced the love of a mom or dad. She had no place that she could call a home.
From a very early age, Raquel was transferred from orphanage to orphanage in Honduras. She was not only abandoned, she was prevented from developing any friendships or relationships. Her life was in constant turmoil.
Orphan Helpers met Raquel in an orphanage when she was 13 years old. She says that’s when she finally started to feel accepted.
“They taught me how to read the Bible and go to church. They gave me lots of love. They started to educate me,” she recalls.
Over the years, Orphan Helpers – through your support – continued to guide Raquel. Our teachers helped her get enrolled in school. They connected her to a community of believers.
Raquel is now 21. She has an 18-month-old son. She says her goal is to finish high school, to work hard, and to help her son become successful. Raquel wants to make sure he receives the parental love and guidance that she never did.
She also continues to grow in her faith. Today, Raquel serves as the praise and worship leader at her church in Honduras.
Despite all she has experienced so far in life, Raquel is amazingly grateful. She gives glory to God for bringing her this far.
“The Lord has been so good and faithful to me. I give thanks to God and Orphan Helpers because they are part of this great blessing in my life.”
